This project proposes a relationship between particle physics and fashion. The study of subatomic particles has historically relied on artistic representation of what is otherwise too small to be seen. Since these particles can never be observed directly, only the traces they leave behind in experiments can prove their existence and show their behaviour. Quantum presents fashion as a medium for making this invisible science tangible in an investigation of material and form. With shapes and lines drawn from the motion of particles, the cutwork explores the line between the visible and the invisible, playing with positive and negative space, and layering laceworks and shapes with varying degrees of visibility.
